New Year’s Day was an ideal tennis day, it being slightly overcast, making it much cooler for tennis. Most of the members of the Maungalautari Club

journeyed to Hora Hora, where a most enjoyable day was spent. Messrs B. Hill and R. Strawbridge picked sides from those present, and thus commenced a tournament. There were a number of visitors, who also joined in. The players were evenly matched, and after some good and close games R. Strawbridge’s team proved the winners. Luckily the rain kept off until the last games of the tournament were being played. Luncheon and afternoon tea were provided by the ladies.
