NEWCASTLE COAL TRADE A BIG DECREASE. RETURNS FOR LAST YEAR. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—CcpyrlghL)' (Australian Press Association.) (Received January 9, 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 9. The Sub-collector of Customs at Newcastle has made available the returns showing the quantity of coal shipped from Newcastle last year. These bear further witness to lost trade in coal in recent years. The exports of coal to inter-State and overseas ports totalled 2,885,958 tons, valued at £3,391,361. The output is 700,000 tons less than that of last year, when the coal trade was admittedly depressed.
