NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS.

THE LATEST RETURNS. REDUCED REVENUE. WELLINGTON, Thursday. A further retrogression in the results of railway operations is shown by the department's working account for the four weeks ended November 10.' The net revenue was £39,853, as against £65,901. The gross revenue from all sources was £566,190, which is less by £8343 than in the corresponding period of last year, while expenses amounted to £526,343, an increase of £17,705.

The earnings of the North Island railways were £317,242, a decline of £0597. Working expenses amounted to £276,204, an increase of £3733. The net revenue of £40,978 shows a reduction of £10,330. A loss is again shown on the operation of the South Island railways, and this is very much larger than last year. The gross revenue, £197,649 has fallen by £9597, while the expenses have increased by £6IOO to £214,501. There was consequently a loss on working of £10,852, as against the loss of £1095 last year. The net revenue from miscellaneous services was £15,727, an increase of £6l.

Following is a summary of the net revenue tor the eight periods of !he current financial year.
