MISSING BANKRUPT.

PROPERTY IN TARANAKI. MRS DONALD EXAMINED. The dealings of William Donald, blacksmith and coachbuilder, of Matamata, were further investigated by the Official Assignee this morning. Mrs Donald attended and was examined. She stated that early in August her husband left Matamata witi the intention of going to Taranaki. After several weeks had elapsed and no word had come from him she made inquiries, and has reason to believe he is in Australia. Asked whether there was any likelihood of his taking any of his properly with him, she replied in the negative. Further examined, Mrs Donald explained that before coming to Matamata her husband had been at Rotorua, and before that in Taranaki. In the latter district he had been farming and had been through the bankruptcy Court there. She understood he had received his discharge. The Assignee said he would make inquiries, and added that from what he could gather the properties in Taranaki appeared to be mortgaged for more than their value. Mrs Donald could not give much information concerning the assets of the business at Matamata, which appeared to be fully covered by bilis-of-sale. The examination was terminated by Assignee remarking that Mrs Donald appeared to be quite frank in the matter and desirous of assisting the investigation. The meeting was adjourned to giv; the Assignee opportunity to make further investigations.
