RACING IN AUSTRALIA.
CHELMSFORD STAKES. CROWDING INCIDENT. STEWARDS OPEN AN INQUIRY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian Press Association). (Received Sept. 10, 2.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 10. . Stewards began an inquiry into the crowding incident during the Chelmsford Stakes. Happy Warrior, which was not fancied by bettors, was leading along the back by half-a-dozen lengths ahead of Rion’s Cup, with Limerick well back. At the turn into the straight the Held closed and considerably crowding occurred. Then Limerick stretched out in earnest to beat off Winalot, and won by a length, with Happy Warrior a length away third. Statesmen finished well, but Raasay suffered badly opposite the stand. The inquiry will be resumed to-day.
