GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
POPPLEWELL’S WIN. FAULTLESS PLAY THROUGHOUT. [By ltlegrapn — Pres-* Assr.. — Copyright.) (Australian Press Association). (Received Sept. 10, 2.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 10. Popplewell's win, wliich was popular, was the result of faultless play throughout. He only faltered once and momentarily. Most of the holes were done in bogey or better. Stewart made a great effort to retain the title, but a round of 78 on the previous day was 100 much to retrieve. He also missed a couple of putts inexplicably. A similar failing destroyed Sinclair’s chances of victory, which earlier were regarded hopefully. Duncan’s (New Zealand) card read 81, 78, 79, 81 —.310.
