nearly half power. DISTRICT ENGINEER’S REPORT. The power available this morning from llorahora hydro-electric works was nearly equal to half the normal load. Good progress has been made since the Are at the transformer plant. The district electrical engineer of the Public Works Department, Mr T. McLennan, furnished us with the following information to-day:— “ Horahora is now supplying the Cambridge and Matamata Distiicts over the 11,000 volt lines and the Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Hangatiki, Arapuni, Rotorua and Bay of Plenty District over the 00,000 volt lines. '■ The maximum load this morning was 4900 k.w., or a little less than half normal load. “ The reconstruction of the transformer house roof and the workshop Is in hand, and to enable this work to proceed, the supply to Matamata and Cambridge will have to be cut off for two days between 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. The dates for this have not yet been decided. “ Also there will have to he several short interruptions, which as far as possible will be arranged to take place at midnight, on the Hamilton and Ray of Plenty lines, to enable some small alterations to he made."
