DETERMINED SUICIDE
PENSIONER SUFFOCATED. * VERDICT AT THE INQUEST. (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Saturday. The inquest on the body of Alfred Henry Eustace, who was found in a wharc at Waihou, resulted in a verdict of suicide. The police stated that Eustace was an old-age pensioner, and had resided in the district for six years. During the past week he had been worrying about the permanence of his pension owing to his acceptance of work. Neighbours, not having noticed deceased about his dulies, searched and found Eustace lying on the iloor of his wharc dead. Investigations proved Unu Eustace first hit himself on the hack of the head with a tomahawk, wluch lacerated his scalp. Apparently finding that this method was 100 slow and ineffective deceased placed his head in a bucket of water and was suffocated. His head was still in the bucket when the body was found. Relatives reside in Auckland. Death occurred abouL 12 hours prior lo the finding of the body. -
