CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS.
TROUBLE WITH MOTOR-CAR. REV. J., RICH’S JOURNEY . While journeying in a three-seater motor-car from Wellington to Hamilton during the week-end the Rev. J. Rich, of Hamilton, was unfortunato in meeting with two accidents. His car got out of control and ran into a creek when near Waipawa, Hawke’s Bay. Only after repealed attempts, lasting into the early hours of the morning, was he able to extricate the car and continue the run. Last night Mr. ltioh was driving through Karapiro, near Cambridge, when engine trouble occurred. Fumes from the engine came in contact with a lighted matoh and the car caught fire.' The front part of the car, including the engine, was destroyed, but the outbreak was subdued with an extinguisher before further damage was done. Mr. Rich escaped without injury.
