A BRIEF SITTING. . LIQUOR OFFENDER FINED. BY-LAW CASES. . “ He neglects his home and knocks his wife about when he is under the influence of liquor,” said Sergeant Cullofy in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court this morning, when William John -Moreland was charged with procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. Mr F. W. Platts, S.M., was on the Bench. The sergeant stated that another man gave accused money to buy two bottles of beer at a hotel. The police followed him and found in possession of the liquor, lie was a first offender. An application for suppression of name was refused, and a tine of 40s with costs was imposed. Other Offenders. Robert Harold Brink.worth pleaded guilty to a charge of driving cattle on portion of Grey Street, other than a stock route. He was fined 10s and costs 12s. For driving a motor car along River Road with one unlighted lamp, William Stuart Currie, commercial traveller, of Hamilton, was fined 10s and costs. Frank Samuel John Price, a territorial trainee, did not think it necessary to -return a kit-bag lent to him by the Defence Department. For failing to deliver the bag on demand he was ordered to pay the cost of it, 3s 6d, and Court costs.
