DEATH OF A NURSE.
AT CHRISTCHURCH BOARD HOLDING INQUIRY. A FULL INVESTIGATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The North Canterbury Hospital Board held an inquiry to-day into the circumstances surrounding the death at Chrislchurch Hospital of Nurse Helen Jones. In addition to members of the boara, the district health officer, and the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr. W. Fox, were present, as well as Mr W. J. Hunter, representing the matron, Miss Muir. The chairman, Mr H. J. Oatley, said he hoped the inquiry would be as full as possible, in order that the whole matter might be oleared up once and for all. Mrs Jones, mother of the dead nurse, gave evidence that the family felt that the girl had been badly treated, in that she had to spend the last two weeks on her feet when she was not well. Witness had heard the matron say that if nurse Jones were her nurse she would give her a good slapping. The inquiry is proceeding. f
