JAPAN ACQUIESCENT.
(Bi Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright.) "(Australian Press Association). TOKIO, May 25. Cabinet has approved of the reply to be sent to the invitation from America to join in the treaty to outlaw war. Japan will say she will be pleased to support the suggestion, on the understanding that the pact will not contlict with her obligation's to the League of Nations, and that it will not refer to actions taken for the protection of the country. Japan is ready to participate in a conference to substantiate the pact.
JAPAN'S ATTITUDE.
A WAITING ROLE
ANGLO-FRENCH LEAD WANTED
(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Umte'i Press Association.) (Received May 26, 11.40 a.m.) TOKIO, May 25.
It is reliably stated that Japan will not accept in full the American antiwar pact proposal. She will express agreement in principle with the American efforts to outlaw war, but will not commit herself deirnitely, pending further expressions of British and French diplomacy, preferring a wailing role while the Anglo-American conversations continue.
