GREEK POLITICS.
VENIZELOS NOT AMBITIOUS
WILL NOT TAKE PREMIERSHIP. NOTHING YET SETTLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.— Copyright.) (Australian Press Association). ATHENS, May 24. Mr Vcnizclos said lie felt that a refusal on his part to resume the leadership of Ihc Liberal Party would have meant its disappearance through dissensions. That would possibly have led to disastrous consequences for the country. Therefore he had taken his decision, but he would be quite ready to leave Greece for ever if by so doing he could facilitate a settlement of the conflict about the future regime.
It is now reported that Mr Venizelos will not take office as Premier, but will recommend the lonnalion of a Cabinet under Mr Safoulis, president of the Chamber of Deputies. However, nothing has been settled. The police banned an anti-Venizelos demonstration.
