THAMES FINANCES.

REDUCED RATES. DESPITE BIG WORKS. A SATISFACTORY POSITION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) THAMES, Friday. The Borough treasurer’s report last evening showed that the rates this year will be reduced by slightly over id in the £, this in spite of the fact that the Borough will give the Tararu suburb a new four-inch main water supply and also bitumen half the main highway through the borough, which extends from Kauaoranga Bridge to the Fishing Rocks. Much satisfaction is expressed over the reduction in the rates. The treasurer also reported that out of £25,212 in rates, £20,808, or 82 per cent, had been collected.
