SUCCESSFUL EXPEDITION. GREAT ISLAND CROSSED. A NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENT. (Australian Press Association). (Received May 25, 0.35 a.m.) CANBERRA, May 24. The Federal Territories Department has received a copy of a resolution from the London Missionary Society, congratulating the Papuan Government upon its successful exploratory expedition across the heart of this great island, and the discovery by two of its olllcers —Messrs G. Karius and I. Champion —of the sources of the Fly and Sepik rivers. The opinion is expressed that this achievement is the greatest in Papuan history.
