MISSED THE MEETING.
A TE KUITI BANKRUPT. REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES. AIETIIODS NOT UP-TO-DATE. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Friday. Although in Auckland. Albert Edward Alagon, a motor service proprietor, of To Kuili, failed to appear at a meeting of his creditors this morning. It was said he was under the impression that the meeting was called for 2 p.m., and some of the creditors were inclined to 'the view that he had absented himself intentionally. Air. J. 11. Robertson (District Official Assignee at Hamilton) said a regrettable feature was the bankrupt’s absence. He had been assured by Magon’s solicitor that sufficient money would be given the bankrupt to come to Auckland. Trustees for the creditors have been carrying on the business since Feb-
ruary, and reporting on their behalf Mr R. A. Spinley said the business had lost heavily through insane competition. There was a lack of uniformity in .bankrupt’s' business. Tourists did not expect to see cars costing £I4OO driven by unshaven chaffcurs, with rolled-up sleeves, without waistcoats, showing third-rate braces suspending slop-made trousers. The office control was weak and the book-keeping not} up-to-date. The schedule showed £3962 owing to unsecured creditors; nevertheless, the surplus of assets was stated at £2981.
