DAMAGES FOR COLLISION. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The two days’ trial of a claim for damages arising out. of a motor accident at Mangerc on July JO lasl was concluded in the Supreme Court yesterday, before Mr Justice Blair and a jury of 12. The collision occurred between a motor-cycle ridden by Charles Baker, labourer, Unehunga and a motor-car driven by Thomas Gardiner Exton, salesman, Papatoetoe. The plaintiff Baker claimed from the . defendant Ex ton damages amounting to £1079. The jury awarded plaintiff damages amounting to £75 Os (id for medical expenses and repairs to the motorcycle, and added wages at £4 18s 8d a week from July last to a date of five months hence, but deducting the lodge grants from this. It allowed no general damages. Mr Finlay moved for judgment at the same time expressing doubt whether lodge grants could be deducted from wages.
