WAIKATO PRESBYTERY.

CALL TO REV. R. MORGAN. SUSTAINED AND ACCEPTER. AC a meeting of the Presbytery of Waikato, held on Tuesday, a call from the congregation of Methven, Canterbury, lo the Rev. R. Morgan was placed in his hands and accepted by him. Ry appointment of a congregational meeting Messrs T. 11. Henderson, A. Wallace, P. Matheson and .1. Ballard appeared as representatives of the Hamilton East parish,, and each in turn expressed deep regret at the prospect of losing the services of their minister, and very appreciative references were made to the good work accomplished during Mr Morgan's ministry in the parish, special references being made to his faithful evangelical ministry and the very prosperous Bible classes established throughout the parish. Mr Matheson also read the following revolution, which was carried unanimously on Monday evening: “That this congregational meeting of the Hamilton East parish having been notified by Presbytery of the call from Methven to the Rev. R. Morgan, while expressing extreme regret at llie prospect of the transfer of our pastor, yet in deference to Mr Morgan's expressed conviction concerning the call agrees with sorrow and reluctance not to place any obstacle in the way.’’ Very rich tributes were also paid by members of Presbytery to the line work which Mr Morgan had done while in the Waikato and to the place which he held in the affections and esteem of his brethren. Revs. 11. G. Gilbert and L. M. Rogers were appointed to draw up a suitable minute, lo be inscribed in the records of Presbytery. Mr Morgan feelingly replied, and indicated that while there had been much to encourage him in some departments of the church work, yet there were circumstances which had led him after prayerful consideration to decide that it w'as his duty to accept this call which had come to him unsought and unexpectedly. Rev. J. Hay was appointed ad interim moderator of the parish, and it was decided to declare the charge vacant from the date of the induction at Methven, probably towards the end of June. j. -j." r —TT-im rsaxt
