._». ALARM EXPRESSED. AT IMMORAL TENDENCIES. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. • The Carterton and Featherston Chamber of Commerce has passed the following resolution: "That this Chamber views with the greatest concern the growing immorality of Hie present day, and calls on all proprietors and custodians of halls to exercise the greatest care to ensure the safety of young girls." Several members spoke strongly, expressing the greatest alarm at the present trend of events. Short skirts, drinking at dances, motor cars, and lack of parental'control were amongst the things cited as causes of Hie ■trouble. * '
