Miss Duxfleld has returned to Horotiu after visiting friends at Devonport. » * * * Miss M. Rutherfurd of Masterton who. returned by the Aorangi, from Honolulu is the guest of her aunt Mr 3 W. A. Oliver, Matangi. * * * » ' Miss Bright of Hamilton is staying in Wanganui. * * * * Miss M. Campbell has returned to Hamilton after holidaying in New Plymouth. » * * * Miss D. Fox, who has been staying in Hamilton, has returned to New Plymouth. * * * * Mrs Les Connell and her son who have been visiting Mrs W.' Wallace, Glaudelands, returned to her home ia Tuakau, to-day. * * * * The committee for the Claudelands Anglican Young People's Club was elected during their dance on Monday evening last. Those on the committee are Misses Mcßae, Barrett, R. Murray, J. Hodgson, M. Woulfe, M. Mercer and Messrs Rich, Morris, Mercer and Speight. The committee has the power to add to its number, during the season, if the need arises.

The Admission Service of the Cathedral Branch of the Mothers' Union is to be held to-morrow at 2.30.. Afterwards Dr. F. M. Spencer will give an address in the parish hall on the care of children, and it is hoped that a large attendance of members will be present. • * • • There was a good attendance at the meeting of the Musical Circle of the Lyceum Club yesterday, ,when three new members joined. An interesting paper was read by Mrs F. M. Spencer,.who with Mrs J. McKinnon was responsible for the afternoon. Musical items were rendered during the afternoon. • * • * The Ladles' Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. met last Monday, when there was a successful meeting, and the following ladies were elected as officers for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Noel Johnson; vice-presidents, Mesdames Fow, Cheesman, and Purdom; hon. treasurer, Mrs Clough; secretary pro tem, Mrs Elmsley; executive —Mesdames Smith, Watson, Clapham, Mason. and Allen. It was decided to hold a ladies' social, also a children's party, the dates for which functions will be advertised later. , j • » * m I I Miss Nancy Grant, a Tasmanian girl, who recently passed her final examination in the Arts course at the Melbourne University, was also awarded the Cobden Club medal for political economy—an honour rarely conferred upon a woman student.
