DAIRY BOARD ELECTION.
A CURIOUS MUDDLE. LETTER WRONGLY ADDRESSED. (Ry Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The fact that a nomination addressed incorrectly was received late has produced an interesting position in regard to the Dairy .Board election. In the case of Mr. B. T. Booker, of Whitford, a candidate against Mr. Grounds, there was apparently a lastminute rush in forwarding the official nomination paper, for it had not been received by noon yesterday, when nominations closed. A registered letter containing the nomination paper was received by the returning officer at 3 p.m., but was found to be addressed to “ Dairy Control Board Election, Wellington.”
Officials had placed a notification in the board’s letter-box at the Post Office that a registered letter had arrived, hut it was not until later that it was discovered that the letter should have been addressed to the returning officer, Department of Agriculture. Later the letter was re-directed, but it was received too late. It is understood that the nornipation is not being accepted.
