“LAMENTABLE IGNORANCE.” (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, Monday. At an inquest concerning the death of a child named Tomlinson, four weeks of age, the coroner said the evidence disclosed lamentable ignorance on the part of the grandfather and the mother of the child in regard to feeding. It showed reprehensible conduct on the part of the relatives in not calling in a doctor or Plunket nurse. MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Monday. Charles Allen, aged 17, while riding a motor-cycle on Saturday evening, collided with a bicycle ridden by Bernard Duffty. Duffty escaped with abrasions to the face. Allen was rather seriously injured, suffering concussion and a gashed lip, necessitating the insertion of stitches. Both were taken to hospital. COLLISION WITH TRAM. RIDER'S WRIST FRACTURED. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A motor-cyclist, W. L. MOTOR-CYCLE AND GIG COLLIDE. PALMERSTON N., Monday. A motor mechanic. Mr Alfred Walsh., of Foxton, when returning from Shannon on a motor-cycle on Saturday evening collided head on with a gig driven by Mrs Royal, who was accompanied by three children. The occupants of Ihe gig were I brown heavily to the ground, Mrs Royal being rendered unconscious. Fortunately the children escaped with a severe shaking. Mr Walsh, whose machine crashid right under the vehicle, was thrown clear.
