RECENT OPERATION SERIOUS. WELLINGTON, Monday. The condition of the Chief Justice, Sir Charles Skerrett, is reported tonight to be unchanged. Exact information relative to the operation he underwent on May 8 discloses that his leg was amputated close to the hip, and not below the knee, as reported earlier. It was made necessary owing to a clot on the fernural artery, which caused a stoppage of tne whole circulation of the leg/
