POPPIES IN STREETS. MEMORIAL SERVICE PLANNED. Flanders poppies and all they convey in memories to thousands of New Zealand families, will again be distributed on Tuesday for wearing on the following day, Anzac Day. The public is asked to buy poppies in the streets and thereby support the fund which is being used to provide work for unemployed returned soldiers. A further addition will be made to the Poppy Fund through the special collection to be taken up at the Salvation Army's memorial service at the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. It is understoud "The Last Post" will be sounded on a bugle by a soldier who actually carried the instrument during the historic landing at Gallipoii. A most impressive service is expected.

RECORD AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Saturday. The public of Auckland responded generously to the Poppy Day appeal yesterday, and £1392 was in hand last evening. When all returns are forwarded this year, it is anticipated that nearly £2OOO will be available, as against £IBOO last year. IN THE SOUTH. WELLINGTON, Friday. The returns available for the Poppy Day collection show that £Bl2 lis 7d was contributed, but amounts to come in will probably bring the total up_to last year's figure, which was £IOB7. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The sum of £BOO was raised by the Poppy Day appeal in Christ church today. There are still returns to come in, ami it is expected the total will reach about £'.)so.
