WAHAROA.

Euchre Parties.

The usual series of euchre parties held in the Y.M.C.A. during the autumn and winter months have been reoommenced and will be held fortnightly.

The first of the series on Tuesday evening attracted a large attendance, nearly fifty players taking part. The prizes were secured by Mrs F. W. Goebel and Mr J. W. Orr, while the booby awards went to Miss A. Casey and Mr A. Cobb. A points prize for ' the session is to be competed for and the splendid support of the initial party augurs well for the success of the competition. Football. The local footballers appear to be in an unfortunate position in regard to senior players, and there does not appear to be much possibility of a senior team being entered 1c the Union competitions, as numbers of eligible players prefer to join forces with outside clubs. A junior team is assured, however, for there are numerous players available. Croquet. The Ladies' Croqtiet Club's green at the Public Domain has been prepared by Mr R. Till and presents a splendid appearance. During the season the members have utilised the lawns at the factories for play, but, next year they will be enabled to use their own area at the Domain and will thus be assured of more suitable and spacious greens. Much regret is felt in croquet circles at the impending departure of the secretary. Mrs F. W. Goebel, who has conducted line affairs of the club since its inception, and who has , proved a capable and popular officer. Personal. Mr and Mrs Burston, of Auckland, who visited Mr and Mrs Porter recently, have returned to their home. Mr and Mrs R. L. Scott are being visited by their daughter, Mrs E. Waite, of Auckland. Mr T. Walker, manager of the Dairy Company at Waharoa, has completely recovered from his recent severe illness and has resumed duties. The friends of Mr and Mrs F. W. Wright will be pleased to learn that their little son Jim has recovered from his illness.
