CLAUDELANDS ANGLICANS
GUIDES AND SCOUTS ENTERTAIN. Some Interesting hours were spent last evening at the Masonic Hall in Glaudelands, when the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts of the Claudelands Anglican Companies entertained many guests. The success was due to the splendid organisation of the evening by the presidents of both divisions, Mesdames R. Clark and Simmons and the committees of both. A jolly programme had been arranged, opening with the campflre and song of the Scouts""followed by a First Aid display, under the superintendence of the Rev. Rich, the Scout master. The Giirl Guides under Miss G. Hammond, captain, then sang a charming little camp song. Other items of the much appreciated programme were:— Irish Jig, by Miss Alice Linsay, a clever little pupil of Miss Gladys Denz; song, by Mr Froude, Wellington; Dutch dance, by Miss Joyce Edwards, another pupil of Miss Denz; recitation, by Miss Denz; country dances, by the Guides; song, by Mr Blackie; flute solo and song, by Mr E. Quill; Melbourne clog dance, by Mavis and Neville Laurenson; song, by Master Rollo; Ilaka, by the Scouts and a Grand Parade. The initiation of two new members was most interesting and impressive. The hall was very prettily decorated with coloured streamers, greenery, and bright flowers. A large number were present, among whom I noticed Mesdames Simmons, Snell, Sterling, Hammond, R. Clark, McKinnon, Brewis, Elmsley, Luxford, Tudhope, H. Clarke, McNicoli, J. D. Smith, Barugh, Ward, Lusk, Gillies, Armstrong, Milroy, Holden, Griffiths, Matron Rothwell and Misses McPherson, Denz, Hammond, Ward, Houghton, Lightburn (2), Gwynne and D. Clark.
