EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS.
SERIES IN THE SOUTH.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) OAMARU, Friday.
A series of severe earthquake shocks in the Ben Avon district are reported by Mr 11. E. Cameron, of Ben Avon. They occurred during the last fortnight aud had caused a good deal of alarm to the settlers. Bocks had been sent tumbling down the sides of the hills, houses had been shaken violently, and stock, as well as the residents of the district, had been terrified. Strangely enough, the convulsion was confined to a limited area. The last of many shocks was experienced on Tuesday.
