Messrs Speight, Pearce, Nicholl and Davys, Ltd., were the successful tenderers for the alterations and additions to the premises of George Calvert and Go., of Cambridge.

Changes in the hours at the Hamilton Municipal Baths are advertised. The baths will be open for men on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8.30 and for ladies on Wednesdays at the same hours. The regular daily hours are: — For males, 12 to 1 and 4.30 to 6.30; for females, 10 to 11.15 and 2.30 to 4.30.

The Mamaku Road Committee met at Rotorua on Thursday*evening. It was resolved to pay over to the Main Highways Board £IOOO required to receive the board’s subsidy on the cost of improving the road. All the money promised had not been paid, but the committee guaranteed the balance. It is urging the Highways Board to take immediate steps to deal with speeding and heavy traffic on this road, and other matters in regard to maintenance.

The JohnsonYille Town Board district has its own water supply. Two dams in the hills are supplied by the waters of the Ohariu Stream. In order to get the water into the upper dam an electric pump was secured last year. The dam was filled recently to the brim. On complaints being lodged by residents that no water was avails able an investigation was made, and it was found that the valve had been opened, causing the whole of the stored water to rush away down the hill to the stream whence it came.

The daylight limited expresses between Auckland and Wellington will make their last trips to-day until Easter. To supplement the passenger service between Frankton Junction and Auokland, in view of the discontinuance of the daylight limited service, a passenger train will leave Frankton daily for Auckland at 8.34 p.rtu, arriving there at 11.2 p.m. Passengers by trains leaving Rotorua at 4.57 pma-, Thames at 3.45 p.m.‘ and Cambridge at 6 p.m. will be able to connect with the new service at Frankton. The present 10.20 a.m. Frankton-Cambridge train will leave Frankton at 10 a.m., arriving at Cambridge at 11J.7 a.m.
