HELD AT TIRAU. LIST OF PRIZE-WINNERS. A summer show, held by the Church of England Ladles’ Guild, took place in the Tirau Public Hall on Friday. Competitions—The winners of the different competitions were as follows: Woollen rug: Miss Hughes 1; doll, Mrs Main 1. Half lamb: Mr Cooper (Hamilton) 25ilb (correct weight 25Jib). Mr Cooper kindly donated ills prize to be sold by auction on behalf of the church funds. Goose (number 72), Mr G. Wilson. Table centre: Mrs Hunt. Green centre-piece: Mrs Evans. Jar of sweets (Mr 11. Crosby Steel) : Mr G. Seton, Box of chocolates: Mr Ross. Glothes-pegging competition, judged on neatness and also time, caused much amusement, and was won by*Mr Mackay.

Stallholders Needlework: Mrs Bonunx. Allen and Miss Dee; toy

stall, Mrs Seton; cake stall, Mrs Jordan and Mrs Dee; produce, Mrs M Harrison, Mrs Marshall and Miss L. Harrison; tea rooms, Mesdarnes Selby, Coates, J. Gray and Gubb; sweets. Mesdarnes Roberts, D. Goodwin, and McLaren.

During the evening Mrs Bishop (piano), Mrs Litchfield (violin), and Mr B. Bragg (cornet) played several selections. ,Mr G. Scion conducted a Dutch auction, when everything offered found speedy buyers.. The Rev. Ward thanked the ladies of the Guild for their splendid efforts in making the show a success, and he also thanked the general public for their most willing support. The church fund will benefit by ■ome £.72, .and great credit is due to Mrs W. Withers (secretary) and her .villing band of helpers. Mr M. E. itzgerald was in charge of the horticultural section cf the show.
