TE AWAMUTU SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The 'monthly meeting* of the Te Awamutu School Committee was held on Tuesday evening, when the chairman (Mr G. S. Clarke) presided, and ,there were also present Messrs G. B. Melrose, R. Ross, A. G. Weatherell, A. A. Reese, and Mrs Wood. The headmaster (Mr J. F. Roberts) and the secretary (Mr Jourdain) were present. The question of asphalting the school grounds was reported 6n by Mr Melrose and the secretary, who had .tilings well in hand. They had written to the architect asking for a slight amendment in the board’s grant.— This matter was left in the hands of Messrs Melrose and Ross, with power to act, the work to be done during the Christmas vacation. It was resolved that the matter of keeping the school grounds in order be referred to the school cleaner, Messrs Melrose and Ross to oversee. It was decided to instruct Mr Ross to prepare a sand tray in connection with the primary school. The headmaster reported that out of 31 who sat for the proficiency examination recently all passed with the exception of two. He also reported the infant school was having a Santa Claus next week. The committee made a small donation to the funds for this purpose. Accounts totalling £ll 11s were passed for payment. Mr Reese, oh behalf of the committee, wished the chairman, headmaster, and staff the compliments of the season. The chairman suitably replied: also the headmaster.
