Glenotus was only £1 better backed than Kamehameha, with Karamu also well supported, being next choice. When the field came past the stand Rahepoto had charge from Mangani, Kendal, Te Tahi, Kamehameha, Karamu and Glenotus. At the jump by the live furlongs post, Mangani took charge from Rahepoto and Kendal, and was first' over the last fence from Rahepolo and Kamehameha. Mangani went on to win by a neck from Kamehameha, with Glenotus half a length away third, and Te Tahi fourth. Then came Rahepoto and Karamu. Kendal fell at the last jump, and his rider (J. ToKio Melville was first into the rt("light together with Judge’s Box, followed by Creation, Subdivision, tiry Lad Good Boy, Whaka King, judge’s Box got up to win by two lengths from Subdivision, who beat Creation by a nose. High Finance (£1476), Nancy Lee (£1149) and Flying Juliet (£1094) were supported in that order. Dave was slow to leave,- and High Finance soon had charge, showing the way across the top to Nancy Lee, Antrim Boy, Flying Juliet, Sir Archie, Nastori, and Gold Acre, with Automnc and King Emerald at the rear of the field. High Finance and Nancy Lee entered the straight on terms in front of Antrim Boy, Sir Archie, Flying Juliet, Modest Boy and Gold Acre. In the run home Nancy Lee did best, and won by 1-} lengths from High Finance, who was a neck in front of Antrim Boy. Flying Juliet was close up fourth, followed by Sir Archie, Nastori, Automnc, King Emerald, Dave, Modest Boy, and Gold Acre. Time, 1.13 4-5.

Mon Star lost some ground at the start, and as they came down the hill to the turn Volimond was in front, followed by The Begum, Avon Court, Coruscate, Valour and Look Out. When they levelled up for the run home Volimond was still in charge, attended by Avon Court, The Begum, Look Out, Coruscate, Valour and Red Lion. Avon Court got up in time to beat Volimond by a neck, lied Lion, who made a late run on the rails, being two lengths further back third, with Valour fourth.
