“NOT FAIR TREATMENT.”

DOCTORS’ RESIGNATIONS. HOSPITAL BOARD ANNOYED. “The Board is not receiving fair treatment from these young gentlemen. They refuse to sign contracts when they enter the Board’s service.” That was the opinion given of youry; doctors who resign from the resident staff of the North Canterbury Hospital Board without sufficient notice. Mr 11. J. Otley, chairman of the Board, .made the statement at the last meeting of the Board. Dr. Langley tendered his resignation from the staff, stating that he would be taking up a new position on November 18. Regarding the resignation of Dr. Dodds from the staff, the Hospital Committee reported—“lt is desirable to emphasise the fact that although these men are appointed for a pei’iod of one year, and receive their salary each month, yet they do not feel it incumbent upon them to give the customary notice. In the case in question. Dr. Dodds only gave notice on the 10th lust, that he desired to leave on the 12th, thus giving no possible opportunity of filling the position.”
