MORRINSVILLE PEWS.

I INTERESTING JOTTINGS. • The Weather. A whole week without oue single shower of rain is an experience that the country has not had for a very long time. Slight frosts have been felt in several mornings, hut every day for a week has been almost perfect. The country everywhere has dried up wonderfully, farmers hoping that they have seen the last of the mud for this season. Grass has made wonderful growth and hay and turnip feeding to cows is practically over for this seaj son. ( With the advent of spring the winter games are finished, and arrangements are being made by the different clubs [to start cricket, tennis and bowis within the next week or so. For all , summer games the Daylight Saving Bill is favourably anticipated by the •members of the different clubs. Cricketers in particular think that by playing until 7 o'clock they will be able to finish all their matches in one day. Farmers arc still a little dubious about how it will affect their dairywork, but are quite prepared to give it a trial. Funds for Croquet Club. i By the sale of work and produce, added to the takings in the tea-room, the Morrinsvillc Croquet Club's fluids will benefit to the extent of some : £36. Municipal Baths. Visitors to Morrinsvillc swimming baths last season were unanimous in their praise of the baths, aud the way in which they were managed by the local committee and the caretaker, Mr Dickie. Satisfactory as the baths were last season they will be found even more attractive this season, as Mr Dickie lias done a lot of work in transforming the bare grass plots into ornamental rockeries, which will soon be a blaze of colour, and planting a number of shrubs and roses. The stands have lken improved and the baths are receiving a coat of whiting, so that when they arc opened, which will probably be on the last Saturday in this month, they should prove very attractive.

i motor Cycle Club. Tempted no doubt by the perfect spring weather that prevailed on Saturday, abouL a dozen members of the Morrmsvillc Motor Cycle Club took part in a run to Arapuni and were much pleased with the outing. Enjoyable Dance. The return dance given by the spinsters of Morrinsville to the bachelors was one of the most successful and enjoyable social functions held in Morrinsvillo " for a long ' time. Music was provided by the Elite Orchestra, and an excellent supper was provided. Extras were played by Mrs McMillan and Mr D. Pirritt. j
