IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE.

A GREEK'S TRIBUTE. British newspapers have proved the best medium for advertising, according to a statement made recently concerning the first year's £30,000 advertising campaign for increasing the consumption of currants. During the season just closing, the organisers of the campaign state that 20,000 grocers and 10,000 bakers have been influenced by advertisements to increase the use of currants in bread, buns and confectionery. "So absolute is our belief in the power of British newspaper advertising," said Mr D. Caclamanos, Greek Minister in London, in an interview,

"that we have decided to increase the allocation by 50 per cent., and to spend £45,000 on advertising during the coining season. Notwithstanding the cruel aftermath of the general strike, the Board of Trade figures show an increase of about 2000 tons consumption."
