FAILED TO STOP.

COLLIDED WITH TRAIN. MOTORIST TO PAY COSTS. In the Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., 11. Peebles (Mr McMullan) pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to stop on approaching a railway line crossing. Recently, defendant when about to cross the railway line crossing in Commerce Street, Frankton, collided with a train. The night was misty, and defendant failed to hear the train approaching. His Worship said that he must take into account the fact that it was not usual for motorists t) stop when approaching a railway line. This was the first case of its kind that had come before his notice in the Hamilton Court. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
