CAMBRIDGE COMPETITIONS

TUESDAY'S SESSION. (Special to Times*.} CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday. The Cambridge Musical and Elocutionary Competitions were continued on Tuesday, the attendance being well maintained. The recalls for the morning and afternoon were: — Piano Solo, under 10, "Minuet in G" (Beethoven). —Recalls: Jean Hawkins (Cambridge) and Erma Macky (Cambridge).

Solo, ladies (restricted class). —Recalls: Miss Adele Bell (Pirongia), "Happy Summer Song"; Miss M. Sands (Cambridge), "Big Lady Moon"; Miss M'yra Monk (Auckland), "Sing, Sweet Bird." Highly coinmcnded: Miss Maud Giles (Cambridge), "The Lass With the Delicate Air."

Sight Reading, boys or girls, under IG.—Final: Master Max Ward (Cambridge), 1; Miss Cladys Brittain (Cambridge), 2. Sacred Solo, men.—Recalls: W. Maberly (Cambridge) and C. Pearcc (Auckland). Shakespearean Recital, ladies.—Recalls: Miss Edna Langmuir (Tc Awamufu), Miss Elfrieda Hall (Auckland), Miss Joyce Arnold (Cambridge). Baritone Solo, "Pleading'" (Elgar). —Recalls: Mr Claude Pearce (Auckland) and Mr 11. E. Bradstreet (Cambridge), Piano Solo (restricted class). — Final: Mr R. L. Sharp (Cambridge), 1. National Song or Ballad, ladies. — Recalls: Miss Myra Monk (Auckland), " Irish Polk Song "; Miss V. A. Flay (Te Awamutu), "The Harp that Once"; Miss Adele Bell (Pirongia) "Robin Adair." There were 17 competitors in this class, which the judge (Mr Temple White) commented on as being particularly pleasing. In addition to those recalled, the following were highly commended: Mrs Colin Wood (Cambridge), Miss Edna Langmuir (Te Awamutu), Miss N. M. Edwards (Te Awamutu), and Miss Delia Clapham (Hamilton). Vocal Solo, without music and accompanied by self. —Recalls: Miss Edna Langmuir (Te Awamutu), Miss Elfrieda'Hall (Auckland). Miss V. A. Flay (Te Awamutu) was highly commended. The Finals.. .
