OBITUARY.

MRS DANSEY. (By Telegraoh.—Press Association.) ROTORUA, Wednesday. The death has occurred of Wikitoria Kahuao Dansey, wife of an ex-Post-master at Rotorua, and daughter of Ihakara Kahuao, chief of Ngati Tuwhareloa (Taupo), who fought for the Crown in the Maori wars. Deceased was the mother of Captain 11. D. Dansey, M.C., C.E., Major R. J. Dansey, and Captain G. R. Dansey, of the postal service, and Mr E. P. Dansey, of Taupo. MR. C. HEPJDRY. MAORI WAR VETERAN. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. One of the few survivors of the Forest Rangers, that hardy band of stalwarts who, under the leadership of Von Tempsky, gained distinction for their courage and daring in the Maori War, was Mr. Charles Hendry, who passed away at his home, Grove Road, Edendale, on Monday. Born in England 85 years ago, Mr. Hendry arrived in Auckland in 1861. Having had mili-r tary experience in the Old Country, soon after arrival he decided to throw in his lot with the redoubtable Forest. Rangers. Mr. Hendry spent some years farming at Rangiaohia, in the Waikato. Re is survived by his wife and two daugtcrs, Mrs. A. Carter and Mrs. E. Montgomery, both of Auckland. There are six grandchildren.

MR HUGH (FERG.) FERGUSON. Mr Hugh (Ferg.) Ferguson passed away at 1 is home at. Cambridge on Monday, aged 46 years. Deceased was a son of Mr and Mr 11. Ferguson.
