ALLOWAY DESTROYED.
While nearing the end of a seven ifurlong gallop on the outside of the course proper at Ellerslic with Mask yesterday, Alloway broke his near foreleg just above the fetlock and had to be destroyed. How the accident occurred cannot be explained, as the horse did not fall. It happened about fifty yards from the winning post and 'at the. time Alloway looked to.be going much easier than Mask. It was remarkable how he kept on his feet as he nearly staggered into a trestle and his rider, H. Wiggins, was lucky to escape a fall. His loss will be a severe one for his owner, Mr. L. G. Paul, who recently refused an offer of ASOO guineas for the Liniond gelding.
