LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
SATURDAY'S GAME. WIN FOR PONSONBY. After a closely contested game on Saturday at Hinemoa'Park the Ponsonby Fourth Grade League team defeated the Frankton. Juniors by a narrow margin, 21 points to 20. The game was' ah:,exciting on' 1 , from the spectators' point of view, and was very evenly contested throughout. Both teams gave a fair exhibition, throwing the ball around in good style and tackling well. For Frankton Thrupp, on the wing, and Gilmour, second five-eigth, were the pick of the backs, while in the forwards, Holmes and Hines showed to advantage. Pike, second five-eighth, and Barchard, centre, were the outstanding backs in the visiting team, while in the forward- division Thompson and Glen were seen to advantage.
