IN AUCKLAND PROVINCE. GREATLY INCREASED PRODUCTION. MORE THAN 33 PER GENT. The extent of the increase in dairy production in the Auckland Province this season, compared with the returns for the corresponding period last season, is strikingly illustrated by the quantities of butter and cheese received into store by the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company. These returns show an increase for the months of the new season of over 33 per cent, in butterfat.

Since July 1, 246,366 boxes of butter have been received into store, compared with 183,733 boxes in 1926, an increase of 62,633 boxes, or over 34 per cent. During September, 157,355 boxes were received at the grading stores, a record for the month, compared with 125,383 in 1926, an increase of 31,972 boxes. The output of cheese this season also shows a substantial increase over the returns for the corresponding period of last year, although last month’s figures showed a decline. Since July 1, 13,761 crates have been received into store, as against 11,292 for the same period in 1926, an increase of 24 69 crates, or nearly 22 per cent. During September the cheese received totalled 3853 crates, compared with 4610 for the same month last year, a decrease of 757 crates. Reduced to terms of butterfat, the dairy output to date this season totals 12,396,5371 b, against 9,312,5301 b last year, in increase of 33.1 per cent. During the month the Niagara took 8232 boxes of butter, 5600 boxes being for Vancouver, 1100 boxes for Victoria, British Columbia, and the balance for Honolulu and China.
