BODY OF MAN FOUND.
IDENTITY A MYSTERY. DEATH DUE TO STARVATION. ißy Telegraph.— I- re.s& Association.; TE KUITI, Monday. Information was received late on Sunday night by the Police at Te Kuiti that the remains of a man had been found about two miles from Kopaki, near the Mangapehi stream, in a remote and almost inaccessible place surrounded by high cliffs. The police found the body decomposed, and an inquest produced no evidence of identification. The body was that of a man between 55 and GO years of age, height sft lOin, of slim build. The man was wearing a dark brown striped suit, brey flannel trousers, and size nine boots. The theory is that the unknown man was going from his camp to the stream for water, as he had a tin tied round his neck, and that death was due to starvation or exhaustion.
The inquest was adjourned, and the police are making enquiries.
