MATAMATA.
Bowling Club.
There was a record attendance at tie official opening for the 1027-28 season of the Matamata Bowling Club on Saturday. A large number of visitors were present, including representatives from Thames, Paeroa, Te Aroha, Morrinsville, Cambridge, Tirau and Putaruru Clubs. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, the greens being in excellent order. Mr G. Stewart (president) welcomed the visitors, and the first kitty was thrown down by Mrs Stewart. Matches were played, President v. Vice-president, and some keen contests took place. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Shanks (ex-president, (Kaukapakapa), Morton (ex-secretary, Onehunga), and Waihi, Rotorua, Claudelands and Ngaruawahia Clubs. The Croquet Club also opened its season with a good attendance, Mrs J, Buchanan officiating. '
Tonnis Ciub
There was a good attendance at the official opening of the Malamata Tennis Club for the ' season. A friendly tournament was played, and with fine weather conditions a most enjoyable afternoon was experienced. Cricket Club. The official opening of the CricketClub took place at Malamata on Saturday, when a friendly match was played against Waharoa. The visitors proved the winners.
