RUGBY FOOTBALL-MATCHES
CLARKE CUP FINAL DECIDED. CITY TOO GOOD FOR OLD BOYS. INTER-ISLAND GAME PROVIDES CLOSE CONTEST. CHOOSING THE ALL BLACK CERTAINTIES. The Rugby football season practically terminated at Hamilton on Saturday, when City defeated Old Boys by a margin of six points in a good open exhibition for the final of the Clarke Cup, while Morris Cup fixtures were also decided. The big match between the Worth and South Islands created a great deal of interest, inasmuch as it was in the nature of an All Black trial from which a number of certainties for the South African trip will be chosen by the selectors. It was a great contest and worthily upheld the traditions of New Zealand's football, adding prestige to the Dominion's reputation. At one stage Worth Island were leading by 17 points to 6, but strenuous efforts by either side culminated in South winning a great game by 31 points to 30.
