Witness: All the money I had was a pound note in gold in me matchbox, which a bloke gave me before the war 1
Solicitor (In sly grog case) : All these people are mixed up in the grog in this business!
Witness: He hit him with a brick. I saw the brick on his head, and then I saw it falling off I
Solicitor: How Is It you are so sure of your facts? Constable: I made a mental note in me notebook. Solicitor: In pencil, I suppose!
Femalo Witness: My husband suffers badly from nerves. _ Once he kicked me out of bed with his nerves 1
Magistrate: I’m going to dismiss this charge. Defendant: Good-o, gimme me at!
Witness: I was drunk, and I wasn’t chunk—everyoneas like that!
