CYCLE ROAD RACE.
HENDERSON WINS. BY ABOUT A MILE. BREWSTER FASTEST TIME. The road race was won by Henderson who rode in at the course, Epsom, and finished at 2.30 p.m. about a mile' ahead of a scratch man, Brewster, from New Plymouth. Francis was in third place three-quarters- of a mile behind and Sutherland fourth another mile away. The first six men finished within 10 minutes of one another. The placings were as follows: — Henderson (handicap 12. min) .. 1 W. Brewster (scratch) 2 W. Francis (handicap 17 min.) .. 3 Sutherland (handicap 8 min.) .. 4 S. Hayes (handicap 8 min.) 5 P. Rickman (handicap 25 min.) .. 6 Brewster, who is a young New Plymouth - rider, gained fastest time and the North Island Championship. He deserved success, as lie has performed well in big cycle races previously, but encountered more than his share of bad luck.
