HOSPITAL STAFFS.
DR. VALINTINE’S ALLEGATIONS. DENIED BY CHAIRMAN OF BOARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Speaking at the laying of Ihe foundation stone of the Maternity Home on Monday, Dr. Yaliritine sialed that in secondary hospitals such as Palmerston North, Wanganui and Napier, the medical side was to a large extent neglected. This statement was challenged by Sir J. Wilson, chairman of the local hospital board, who, in the absence of the medical superintendent, who confines himself entirely io physician’s work and whose specialty is ihe treatment of medical cases, says: “At the present time we have one honorary medical officer appointed exclusively as a physician and live other honorary medical officers appointed as surgeons and physicians. These latter, act both iii medical and surgical cases at the present lime, controlling medical cases at. Ihe hospital with the utmost skill and care. These cases are nol left to junior assistants.”
