Speaking last night on the Daylight Saving Act, the Minister l'or Rotorua, (Mr F. F. liockly) declared that if the railway services were not adjusted to meet the needs of dairy farmers they would abandon train transit and put ou road services, lie characterised the measure as one of the most, selfish and pernicious measures ever placed on the Statute Book. In the arrangement of the train services the needs of the dairy farmer should he the chief consideration; those of other sections of the community being accorded secondary place. The dairy farmers were not going to lake the matter lying down, and If the transport of milk and cream was once diverted from train to lorry it would be a difficult matter for the Railway Department to regain it. The Minister (Right. Hon. J. G. Coates) said every effort would, l:jp made to conserve the interests of the producers.
