DANGEROUS DRIVING.
FINE OF £5 IMPOSED. NO EFFORT TO SLOW UP. In the Magistrate’s Court this morning, before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., Samuel Burton, veterinary surgeon, as as a sequel to a collision which occurred at the junction of Alma and Victoria Streets, appeared to answer to charges of dangerous and negligent driving. The force of the collision was such as made it impossible to drive away Burton’s car after the accident. The font axle of the car was badly bent. Tlie driver of the other car, Smith, in evidence said that as he came out of Alma Street his car, when in the middle of the road, was struck on the rear mudguard hy the front of Burton’s car. Other evidence was called to show that Burton was travelling at an excessive speed. In imposing a fine of £5, with costs £2 12s, His Worship remarked that in his opinion accused was driving in a dangerous manner and had made apparently no effort to slow up. Mr Strang appeared for defendant.
