The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, dated the 18th inst.: — Butter. , New Zealand and Australian markets firmer at the close, others quiet. Official quotations are:—• New Zealand. —Finest salted, 161 s to 166 s per cwt (Is 5d to Is s|d per lb) ; unsalted, 174 s to 17Gs (Is 6Ad to Is GJd) ; other qualities, 156 s to 160 s (Is 4J<l to Is sd). Australian. —Salted, 160 s to 164 s (Is scl to Is s£d) ; unsalted, 166 sto 170 s (Is 53d to Is 6id); other qualities, 148 sto 164 s (Is 3)d to Is 5Ad). Danish. —162 s to 164 s (Is 51d to Is 55d). Irish.—Creamery. 158 s to 160 s (Is 42d to Is sd) ; unsalted, 164 s to 166 s (Is 5Jd to Is 52d). BUOYANCY OF MARKET., The buoyancy of the New Zealand butter market was yesterday even more pronounced, and offers to factories as high as Is 5d per lb were made, -but without affecting business. Most companies, confident in the immediate future of the London market, and taking advantage of the “ bidding for custom ” by exporters, are holding for a higher figure.
