ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). (Special to Times.) WELLTNGTON, Tuesday. The Public Service Association will commence its annual conference in Wellington to-day. Delegates from all parts of the Dominion will participate in the deliberations. It is expected that the Public Service classification list will be issued in the course of a few daws. _____________ PAYMENTS TO OFFICERS’ WIDOWS. SU P E RAN NU AT 10 X FUN DS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Tuesday. At the annual meeting of the Public Service Association Hon R. A. Wright said the Government had approved the payment of the monetary equivalent of leave to widows and near relatives of officers dying while in service. This means that if an officer dies while a member of the service his widow or dependent children may be paid an amount equivalent to that which would have been payable to the officer in lerms of the regulations in the event of his retirement.

The Government had approved the recommendation of the Public Service commissioner Hint provision be inane fur (lie training of administrative officers by giving a selected number an opportunity of taking up university courses on lines similar to the training at present afforded professional and lechnical officers.
